If you are not renting a car, we will be arranging a van to pick you up at the Liberia airport. More details as we get closer.

We have rented with Enterprise and National, there are several others. We prefer Enterprise or National as they have the larger vehicles to make the drive more comfortable (Premium SUV or Full Size SUV)

First check in at the rental counters in the baggage claim area. You will then be directed to pick up your bags and head to a waiting area inside the terminal, by the exit. An agent from your rental company will be there to take your name and you join a line up before you are ushered to the rental company's shuttle. 

Tip #1: Check to see if your credit card has additional car insurance in Costa Rica. The rental companies require specific liability insurance. For instance, the US personal American Express Platinum offers luxury car insurance but does need to be activated prior to travel.

Tip #2: When getting quotes, ask about additional fees

Tip #3: We recommend a large SUV 4x4 if possible. Only some of the roads are paved on the way to the resort. It will be a very bumpy ride in a car. We recommend a standard size SUV over the cross-overs, etc.

Tip #4: We recommend using Waze for navigation instead of apple maps or google maps. The wedding is just after rainy season.  GPS sometimes wants to take you on a road that exists during dry season but becomes a river in the rainy season. 

Tip #5:  Although Costa Rica is extremely safe, there is petty crime. If renting a car and driving around the country, extra precautions should be taken to avoid non-Costa Ricans from breaking into cars. This is not to scare you, but prepare you in the event you want to travel around, be smart and extra cautious. Feel free to ask any questions.  

If you are wanting to explore more of Costa Rica before or after the wedding you do not have to rent a car. You can shuttle anywhere you want to go. Depending on where you may want to explore, some roads need a little extra caution. Speed limits are low for a reason. If you want a more relaxed traveling experience, this may be the way to go. The hotel or our wedding coordinator can help arrange other transportation if needed.
